Red Star Rising: Model Characters

One of the things that repeatedly strikes me is my own foolhardy belief that the editing is finished. Doing it again I’m appalled that there are so many typos. Not major ones, but plenty that needs doing.

One of the things that repeatedly strikes me is my own foolhardy belief that the editing is finished. Doing it again I’m appalled that there are so many typos. Not major ones, but plenty that needs doing.

As frustrating as it is for my friends and family, I don’t think they quite realise how many times an author has to edit their work. Even established authors will apparently go through their draft a good four, five or six times before they even get the editor to have a look.

So I’m on the last edit before I cash out for a proper editor to cast a look over the work and see if it was worth all the effort. Then it’s onto beta readers.

In the meantime – whilst looking around to make some upgrades to Heroquest I came across my new favourite time-suck: Heroforge. Being able to craft your own miniatures seems pretty cool, and so I made a few attempts at creating 3D models of the three main good guys: Shale, Squirrel and Brick (who you have to adjust scale for – he’s about 8ft tall).

Not really how I think of them, but it was just a bit of fun. Who knows, perhaps I’ll try and make a few of the crew of the Aurai’s Gift (from The Mind-Thistle Run).

Anyhew, when I’m not making a wide array of miniature characters that I can’t afford to have printed, I’m editing away.

I swear!

So if all goes well I’ll begin posting new PDFs of Red Star Rising in the next month of so. Watch this space.

Hope you’re all well out there!
